In 1993 Scott Crampton became the head coach for a Lamar Community College team that had experienced eighteen straight losing seasons. Winning now has become a tradition. With numerous Conference Championships and District playoffs under its belt, LCC has become one of the top 10 programs in the country. In 2002, the Runnin' Lopes set a school record for wins with a 59-5 record and a third place finish at the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO. Coach Crampton has been selected Region IX Coach of the Year on numerous occasions.
From 1983–1986, Coach Crampton attended New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM, playing first base. As a junior, he hit .412 and was third in the nation in triples. During his senior year he was an All-American Candidate and Co-Captain. After his playing days, Crampton stayed on through three head coaches as the NSMU hitting instructor from 1987-1993. In 1992 his Aggie hitters finished number one in the nation in Team Home Runs, Team Scoring, and Team Slugging Percentage, and second in Team Batting Average.
Crampton and his wife, Anne-Marie, reside in Lamar with their daughter, Kathryn, and son, Brent.
Ben Buck, Pitching Coach

Ben Buck began his pitching coach career at LCC in the spring of 2008. Ben attended LCC in 2000-2002. As a closer, Ben saved 9 games both his freshman and sophomore years. He still stands as the all-time save leader as well as the single season save leader. Buck assisted LCC with 106 wins in two years. In 2002, Buck helped LCC win 59 games and finish third at the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO. Ben finished the season with a 1.06 ERA, 26 IP, 27 K, 11, BB and 9 saves in 21 appearances. Buck is now second all-time in season ERA and career ERA at LCC.
After LCC Buck attended the University of Utah, then coached by Tim Esmay (currently at Arizona State University). Used primarily as a closer, Buck appeared in 26 games as a freshman and had 22 strikeouts in 29 innings. As a sophomore Ben appeared in 35 games and started 9. He finished his career with 61 appearances, 117 innings pitched, 71 strike outs, and 7 wins. During his senior year, Buck was reunited with former LCC pitching coach Bryan Conger at Utah and also led the Utes in wins. After four successful years at the college level, Buck pitched professionally for the Mid-Missouri Mavericks an independent club affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers in Columbia, MO.
Ben is single and resides in Lamar.
Zach Druce, Assistant Baseball Coach

Zach Druce began as an assistant coach at Lamar Community College in the fall of 2008. He attended Western Nebraska Community College in 2004-06 and was a two-year starter and selected second team All-Region his sophomore year. Zach then attended Northwest Nazarene University in 2007. While pitching in the starting rotation in the spring of 2007, Zach suffered an arm injury. He then stayed on as an assistant coach for the remainder of 2007 through the spring of 2008. Zach also coached two years in the Boise Collegiate Summer League. Zach finished his degree in Recreation Sports Management in May of 2008.
Druce is also the college's Residence Life Director.
