The
2009 Runnin’ Lopes are coming off a 32-23 season and a second place
Empire Conference finish in 2008. The Lopes have won seven of the last
eight conference titles and averaged 46 wins a year while accumulating
an astonishing league record of 232-43 for a .843 winning percentage.
Also during this run the Lopes had three seasons of over 50 wins in 2002
(59), 04 (50), 05 (51).
The 2009 club lost six sophomores to graduation and returned five everyday
starters and two starting rotation pitchers. The position players return
with 776 at bats and 254 games started. The pitching staff returns with
19 wins and 220 innings pitched. With a strong recruiting class the 2009
Lopes plan on returning to dominance in Region IX.
