Adam Schwartz begins his third year as head coach at Lamar Community College and fifth overall.  In his five years at LCC Coach Schwartz has played a huge role in three 20-win seasons, LCC’s first Region IX Championship, and first ever appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament where the Runnin’ Lopes finished in fifth place.  At LCC, Coach Schwartz has coached one NJCAA All-American, three All-Region Players, and two Academic All-Americans. He has assisted eight players move on to Division I programs and 18 to other four year institutions.

Coach Schwartz came to Lamar Community College after spending two seasons at Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely, CO. While at CNCC, Schwartz served as one of the youngest head coaches in all of college basketball. In two years he helped re-establish CNCC as a competitive program in the SWAC Conference and Region XVIII, one of the premier junior college conferences in the country.

Before Colorado Northwestern, Coach Schwartz spent three seasons at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas, where he was an aide to legendary coaches Charlie Spoonhour and Lon Kruger. At UNLV, Coach Schwartz was part of three NIT teams and made it to the Mountain West Conference semi-finals or beyond each year.  While at UNLV, Coach Schwartz had the opportunity to work with players such as Marcus Banks (13th overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft of the Boston Celtics), Joel Anthony (Miami Heat), and Louis Amundson (Golden State Warriors). 

Prior to joining the Runnin' Rebel staff, Coach Schwartz spent two seasons at Durango High School (Las Vegas, NM) as an assistant coach under Head Coach Al LaRocque, where the Trailblazers have won two state championships, four conference championships, and helped 11 players move on to the NCAA Division I level. Coach Schwartz also has been a part of some of the most prestigious camps and tournaments in the country.

A native of Las Vegas, Nevada, Coach Schwartz earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.

Chris Haslam, Assistant Basketball Coach

Chris Haslam begins his second season as the Men’s Assistant Basketball Coach. In his first season Coach Haslam helped the team to a 23-8 record. Coach Haslam joined the Runnin’ Lopes after a 13 year professional career throughout Europe. For the last three of his playing seasons Coach Haslam served as player/assistant coach for the Everton Tigers in the BBL, the professional league in Great Britain. Haslam also played in several different European leagues, namely Italy, Greece, Belgium, Germany and the Czech Republic.  He also played ten years at the international level for the Great Britain National team making 65 appearances. Coach Haslam played collegiately at the University of Wyoming from 1993-97.

Coach Haslam graduated from the University of Wyoming with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science.

Originally from Southport, Great Britain. Coach Haslam comes to Lamar from Laramie, Wyoming. He is accompanied by his wife Melanie and two young children, Kaitlin, 8, and Charlotte, 4.

Joshua Motenko, Assistant Basketball Coach/JV Head Coach

The 2011-2012 season will be Joshua's first as assistant men's basketball coach for Lamar Community College.  He will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the NJCAA Division I program, as well as leading the brand new junior varsity program as head coach.

Motenko comes to Lamar, Colorado from Oakland, California where he was assistant coach for the eighth ranked junior college in the state.  He helped lead Chabot College to a 20-8 record under soon-to-be Hall of Fame coach Denny Aye, who has over 750 wins. While at Chabot, Joshua’s responsibilities included recruiting, advance scouting, practice and game preparation, player development, film analysis and exchange, and academic counseling. 

Joshua has extensive international experience on four continents coaching, directing operations, scouting NBA prospects, and playing. Joshua has directed trainings and award winning skill development camps for over 1,000 youth as well. His work has been featured on ESPN, National Public Radio, and EuroBasket.com, among other publications.

Originally from Boston, MA, Joshua received his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Wheaton College (MA), and his Level 1 FIBA Coaching Certification from the Turkish Basketball Federation. He speaks Turkish and Spanish.
