LCC Women’s Softball
For the past ten years, Runnin’ Lopes Softball has been ranked as one of the top hitting teams in the nation with a batting average of .350 or better. One of the primary reasons for the Runnin’ Lopes success is their state-of-the-art facilities. Lamar Community College offers a small college atmosphere with a 9,000 square foot indoor hitting facility, fitness center complete with state-of-the-art weight machines, treadmills, indoor track and gym. Lamar’s outdoor facilities include Citizens’ Field, the new college softball field, with all the amenities including bullpens, lights, press box, and restrooms. Lamar’s ball complex includes two additional lighted softball fields, all within walking distance from the college campus.
The 2012-13 Runnin’ Lopes include a large freshman class. LCC has added eighteen players to its returning roster including athletes from Colorado, Alaska, New Mexico, Wyoming, California, Arizona and Utah.
In the past ten years, Runnin’ Lopes softball has generated ten All-American athletes and eight Academic All-Americans. The softball program takes pride in the concept of student-athletes; this is a testament to the work and effort the Lady Lopes put into their academics.
Coach Craig Brooks starts his twelfth year as the Lady Lopes head coach and brings with him thirty plus years of coaching experience, and a college record of 389 wins and 289 losses.
