In 2013-14 Coach Timm Dixon will enter his second season in charge of the Lady Lopes Basketball program. The 2012-13 season was a season of records and first’s for the Lady Lopes as they finished with a 18-12 overall record and a 4th place Region IX finish.
Coach Dixon was hired at Lamar in July of 2012 with no returners or signees. The 2012-13 team was quickly put together over a 5 week span and the Lady Lopes made history as they hold the school records for Most Win’s (18), Longest Winning Streak (8), Steals in a single game (24) and a single game scoring record of 96 points vs Northwest Kansas Technical College. The Lady Lopes major milestone win(s) of the 2012-13 season was a 65-60 victory over Northeastern Junior College, which marked the first ever win against NJC in school history, and a 63-62 victory over perennial Texas powerhouse Howard College.
On the national level in all of Junior College Women’s basketball, the Lady Lopes finished in the top 10 in Steals Per game (16.1), Free Throws Attempted per game (27), and Free Throws Made per game (17.1). LCC also finished in the top 50 in Field Goal Attempts per game (63.8).
Coach Dixon has been around basketball all of his life, as both an athlete and a coach at many different levels. Coach Dixon received his B.S. from Kennedy Western University, and his M.Ed from Grand Canyon University
where he also worked as an Assistant Coach at the NCAA Division II powerhouse from 2007-09 while helping GCU to its first NCAA National Tournament berth and identified, recruited and coached the 2011 NCAA Division II player of the year.
Coach Dixon has coached women’s collegiate basketball for 11 years as an assistant coach at Pima Community College, Glendale Community College, Arizona State University (Volunteer Intern), and South Mountain Community College, and has worked as a independent contractor for several WNBA teams as an advance scout.
The team success has extended off the court and in the classroom as well, evidenced by a 2012-13 team GPA of 3.11. Coach Dixon has also helped various student athletes realize the importance of graduating with a degree while working with his previous head coaches, as they have graduated 93% of all student athletes involved in the women’s basketball program(s).
Coach Dixon is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, is Married to Traci Dixon and has 3 boys Taylor, Tanner and Trevor.

Tom Sutherland begins his second year on the Lady Lopes bench in 2013-14 and was a invaluable part of the Lady Lopes unprecedented success in 2012-13.
Sutherland has worked at many levels in his coaching career including NCAA DI schools UMBC, Marist and Manhattan, and has coached at the Junior College level as the head coach at Glendale Community College.
Although this will be Sutherland's second year officially under the tutelage of Dixon, he is no stranger in working with Dixon, as Dixon was Sutherland’s assistant at Glendale. Dixon stated: “To have someone on staff that I trust and have access to with his wealth of knowledge and experience is invaluable to me. He has done a lot for this program already, and I am glad to have him on my bench”
Sutherland's responsibilities include: player development, recruiting, summer camps, and scouting/film exchange. In addition to coaching, he also serves as the Transfer Coordinator for University of Colorado-Colorado Springs here at LCC.
