2014-15 Season Recap
The season started off with high expectations to continue the success from the 2013-14 season, with 9 freshmen looking to have key roles in a young team. Having one of the toughest non region scheduled in program history, the challenge was to see how the young team could handle a grueling college season.
After a rough non region schedule, the Lady Lopes saw improved play once the region matches started, with multiple matches with double digit blocking outings and another record of 3-7 in a tough region 9 south. The season saw the Lady Lopes sweep rival Otero; both times being hard-fought 5 set matches. The Lady Lopes ended their season with a 11-29 overall record.
The Lady Lopes saw success in the classroom with a team GPA of 3.31, which was one of 24 junior college teams to win the AVCA Academic Excellence Award and the NJCAA Team Award. One player received the NJCAA academic All-American award and 4 players on the Region IX academic team. This was only the second time that the program has won the AVCA award.
The team looks to continue the success in the classroom and get back to scrappy play on the court. Increasing the strength of a non region schedule will allow the coaches a chance to see what the team has before region play starts.
