Language Arts Instructor : Full-time Language Arts instructor (166 day contract). Position provides instruction in the areas of composition, literature, and speech and departmental leadership, planning, coordination, and oversight to adjunct instructors.

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Dean and Associate Dean of Academic Services the instructor will teach a 15 credit hour load, which—depending upon qualifications— may include teaching developmental English, composition, speech, literature, creative writing, or introductory courses in journalism; participate in the development and revision of curriculum and program/course evaluation and assessment, including student learning outcomes; perform related duties in the Language Arts discipline as assigned; participate in professional development activities; maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area; use effective teaching/learning strategies; work cooperatively with other department members and Deans to develop and maintain quality instruction. • Sufficient preparation to teach college-level courses and at least one year of teaching experience in language arts, preferably at the college level.

History Instructor: Full-time, 166 day contract.

Other position responsibilities include remaining current in the subject matter area; using effective teaching/learning strategies; working cooperatively with other department members, and the Dean and Associate Dean of Academic Services. Education Programs Coordinator: Full-time faculty position coordinates Dual Credit and Teacher Education programs. 220-day faculty contract with broad teaching and program coordination responsibilities.

Job Duties: Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Academic Services, the coordinator supervises the PSEO program in conjunction with over a dozen regional high schools; on average teaches two selected teacher education courses per semester, advises teacher education students; assists the Dean and Associate Dean in program development and other division tasks; and participate in curriculum review and program/course evaluation and assessment as well as professional development activities. The coordinator must maintain currency in subject areas including state-wide transfer issues relating to teacher education; use effective teaching/learning strategies; and work cooperatively with other department members and the Dean of Academic Services to develop and maintain quality instruction. Assignment may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and off-campus classes with service area travel required. The Coordinator is expected to maintain regular office hours; assist and advise students; participate in division activities including regular faculty meetings; serve on appropriate college committees, including Faculty Senate and AQIP, and participate in professional and community activities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: The successful candidate must demonstrate the following qualifications.
• Master’s degree in Education or education-related discipline area preferred, Bachelor’s degree in Education or education-related discipline area required. If a Master’s has not been completed the successful applicant must agree to earn an appropriate Master’s degree in Education within a specified time frame to be determined prior to awarding the faculty contract;
• Previous teaching and/or administrative experience, with a preference for combined elementary, secondary, and post-secondary teaching;

Small Business Management Faculty: Full-time, 220-day contract faculty position that provides the leadership, planning, coordination, and instruction of all components of the Small Business Management (SBM) Program at Lamar Community College. It is designed specifically for the adult business owner/operator.

Responsibilities: Oversee the continued growth and development of Small Business Management Program at LCC through effective instruction, management, marketing, and appropriate course development. The successful candidate will be the guiding force in establishing goals, plans, and instruction for LCC’s Small Business Management Program and its student participants. This position will report to the Dean and Associate Dean of Academic Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Providing leadership and day-to-day student instruction and management of LCC’s Small Business Management Program.
• Providing regular on-site, one-on-one instruction & advising at participant’s business location that will include instruction in accounting/recordkeeping, management, marketing, and other common concepts and practices used in owning and managing a small business.
• Offer on-campus classroom instruction to SBM program participants in accounting/recordkeeping, management, marketing, and other common concepts and practices used in owning and managing a small business.
• Applying SBM course/program evaluation processes while working with program participants.
• Teaching on-campus accounting course(s) as assigned.
• Establishing networks and partnerships within the service area to include appropriate guest speakers and seminars to enhance student and other area small business owner educational opportunities.
• Ensuring quality, rigor, and suitability of SBM and accounting courses.
• Ensuring that SBM students receive appropriate student services, including admissions, advising, financial aid, and learning support.
• Setting and monitoring enrollment and retention goals.
• Recruiting participants to the SBM program.
• Serving on college committees and projects as appropriate to an LCC Business faculty positions.
• Assisting the college in making informed choices concerning SBM and other LCC Business programs, courses, and activities.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting and prior small business management experience are required; Master’s in Business/Accounting degree preferred. Prior teaching experience is an asset. Additionally the successful candidate must possess:

• Current Colorado Vocational Credential in Business or qualify for and obtain credential.
• Experience in small business supervision, budgeting, advertising, planning, and accounting. Accounting background is most important.
• Strong familiarity with a wide variety of computer applications, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer accounting software, e.g., QuickBooks Pro.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability/enthusiasm to travel and work flexible hours.

Lamar Community College Communications is entertaining proposals from established web designers to create a new look for the Lamar Community College Web site (www.lamarcc.edu) as well as other special projects related to web maintenance, including creating/maintaining new program pages. 

Interested parties must submit proposals with initial design ideas and pricing as well as references and current examples of their work created in Dreamweaver.

The design change should not require a reorganization of the Web site. Designs should meet required standards of the American Disability Act (ADA).
