Small Business Management Director: Full-time, 220 day faculty contract position that provides leadership, planning, coordination, and instruction for all components of the Small Business Management (SBM) Program at Lamar Community College. It is designed specifically for the adult business owner/operator.

Responsibilities: Oversee the continued development and growth of SBM through effective instruction, management, marketing, and appropriate course development. The successful candidate is the guiding-force in establishing goals for and instruction of SBM and its students. The position reports to the Vice President of Academic Services and is responsible for the following:

  • Presenting on-campus classroom instruction in accounting/record keeping, management, marketing, and other common concepts to SBM participants. Assuring quality, rigor, and suitability of SBM courses.
  • Providing regular on-site, one-on-one instruction & advising that reinforces classroom instruction at participant’s business location.
  • Teaching additional accounting course(s) for students not enrolled in SBM, based on course scheduling needs.
  • Working in concert with the LCC Entrepreneurship Program Coordinator /Instructor in recruiting and development of students for both programs.
  • Maintaining networks and partnerships to maximize opportunities for guest speakers and seminars to enhance student and community educational opportunities in small business-related areas.
  • Ensuring that SBM students receive appropriate student services, including admissions, advising, financial aid, and learning support.
  • Setting and monitoring program enrollment and retention goals.
    Assisting the college in making informed choices concerning SBM and other Business programs, courses, and activities.
  • Serving on college committees and projects as appropriate to an LCC faculty position.
    Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting required, Master’s in Business/Accounting degree preferred (if candidate does not have a master’s degree, he or she must be willing to obtain one within four years). A minimum of three years prior experience small business management/ownership required. Prior teaching experience an asset, as is the following:

  • Possession of or ability to obtain a Colorado vocational credential.
  • Experience in small business supervision, budget, advertising, planning, and accounting. Accounting background is most important.
  • Strong familiarity with a wide variety of computer applications; especially computer accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks Pro), word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours.

Compensation: $35,000 - $37,500 commensurate with experience, plus other benefits that accrue to full-time faculty positions within the Colorado Community College System.

Director of Marketing: Full-time position (twelve-month contract).

Responsibilities: The Director of Marketing crafts a compelling unified message throughout the college’s publications, advertising, promotional materials, website, assuring the accuracy of each. This consistent image aligns with the vision, mission, strategies, and goals of the college. The position will create and/or supervise vendors in the creation of the college’s materials. The Director will:

1. Implement the college’s campus-wide integrated marketing/enrollment management initiative efforts with other staff and faculty.
2. Develop, implement, and manage college’s marketing plan.
3. Design, coordinate, and supervise production of college’s printed material, including departmental information.
4. Manage media relations, including radio and print ad creation, and media buys.
5. Supervise/maintain website design and content.
6. Monitor and update currency of web pages, by working with current faculty and staff.
7. Plan for and execute website re-skin and reorganizations, when appropriate.
8. Maintain accurate and cost-effective budget.
9. Manage internal ‘information services’ functions, including marquee, web calendar, signage, and campus bulletin boards.
10. Participate on college committees, attend college activities, and actively engage in the life of the college.
11. Assist with planning & implementation of special events.
12. Represent the college at community and CCCS functions.
13. Investigate new software to provide expanded services and greater efficiency.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field required. Master’s degree in Marketing preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Verifiable proficiency in a variety of softwares, including web (Dreamweaver), publication (Pagemaker/InDesign, and/or Quark), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher), as well as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Working knowledge of market research techniques. Extensive experience in creating publications.

Compensation: $35,000 - $40,000 plus other benefits that accrue to full-time administrative positions within the Colorado Community College System.

Sports & Fitness Instructor/Fitness Center Director: Full-time Sports & Fitness Instructor/Fitness Center Director to include half-time sports/fitness course instruction and half-time supervision of LCC Fitness Center. Twelve month contract.

Responsibilities:

Sports & Fitness
- Teach Sports and Fitness courses, including but not limited to Introduction to Sports Medicine, Fitness & Wellness, Care & Prevention of Athletic Injuries, Personal Trainer Prep Class, and Practicums during the academic year. May include weekend and/or evening classes, as well as distance delivery. Initiate outreach activities to high school coaches and athletic teams. Advise students. Remain current in the subject area, using effective teaching/learning strategies and working cooperatively with other department members and instructional administrators.

Fitness Center - Coordinate all aspects of the college’s physical education classes and Fitness Center operations, including supervision of fitness center staff and enrollment management. Conduct orientations and give tours to new students. Coordinate College’s Silver Sneakers program, including enrolling and orienting students and teaching a minimum to two Silver Sneaker MSROM (muscular strength and range of motion) classes two times a week.

Serve on appropriate college committees and participate in professional and community activities.

Qualifications: Applicant must be people-centered with a desire to assist people who wish to
improve their overall health and wellness. The successful applicant must also demonstrate the following required qualifications.

• Certified athletic trainer and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience providing ATC services to sports teams.
• Possession of or ability to obtain NCSF Personal Trainer Certification.
• Desire and ability to work with students and athletes of all ability levels.
• Demonstrate successful project initiation and execution.
• Show commitment to diversity.

Desired qualifications include:
• At least one year of teaching experience (part-time or full-time).

Director of Adult Transition Services: Full-time (twelve-month contract).

Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate and manage Adult Transition Services at LCC including ESL/ABE/GED; fee for service contracts with partner agencies; pilot programs associated with adult education. Position reports to Vice President of Academic Services.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred. Prior teaching experience including ESL/ABE/GED instruction is important. Ability to coordinate and manage large-scale projects necessary and budget management experience required. LIA Certification or ability to acquire immediately required. Director of Distance Education: Full-time, 220 day faculty contract position that provides leadership, planning, coordination, and evaluation for all components of the Distance Education Program and hybrid course offerings at Lamar Community College.

Responsibilities: Oversee the continued development and growth of distance education at Lamar Community College through effective management, marketing, and appropriate course development. The successful candidate is the guiding force in establishing goals and plans for LCC distance education and hybrid course offerings, so that it can be creatively, effectively, and responsively delivered. The successful candidate works in partnership with college IT personnel to accomplish the following responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day management of LCC’s distance education initiative.
  • Implement the college’s Distance Education Plan, developing and enforcing policies and procedures as required.
  • Act as the college’s Desire 2 Learn System administrator, including server and course management.
  • Collaborate with Education Programs Coordinator to use distance delivery methods for offerings at area high schools.
  • Instruct appropriate courses.
  • Address administrative, faculty, and student concerns regarding distance education delivery.
  • Establish networks and partnerships within the service area to promote distance education and determine regional needs.
  • Supervise the suitability, development, and design of new online courses.
  • Troubleshoot issues and answer questions from distance education students and faculty.
  • Assist in hiring, training, and supervising adjunct distance education faculty.
  • Deliver student and faculty training and orientations for all distance delivery modes.
  • Establish and maintain effective distance education and hybrid course assessment processes to ensure quality and rigor.
  • Set and monitor enrollment and retention goals.
  • Develop and implement distance education management plans, including data backup, storage, and security.
  • Serve on college committees as appropriate to an LCC faculty position.
  • Assist the college in making informed choices concerning current and approaching educational technologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Master’s degree preferred; bachelors required (if candidate does not have a master’s degree, he/she must be willing to obtain one in an appropriate field within four years). A minimum of three years prior experience in distance education administration and/or distance education teaching is highly desirable. Must possess:

  • Ability to develop, manage, and assess projects,
  • Prior experience in supervision, budget, and planning,
  • Strong familiarity with a wide variety of applications, instructional software, networking technology, and distance learning hardware and software (Desire 2 Learn experience preferred),
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technology training sessions,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Strong team building skills, and
  • Must be willing to travel and work flexible hours.

Construction Technology Program Specialist: 220 day faculty contract. Under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Services and Title III Grant Administrator the position will organize efforts to begin the college’s Construction Technology Program funded through a five-year (October 2008-September 2013) U.S. Department of Education Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant. At the conclusion of the grant, the position would be retained as program coordinator and lead instructor.

Responsibilities: Emphasis of work will include
• Guide site selection/building preparation for program implementation
• Advise and assist in purchase of program equipment and materials
• Identify program-specific competencies
• Design and develop program curriculum
• Guide the development of syllabi and course outlines
• Pilot instruction, including lecture and lab activities
• Evaluate pilot results and revise curriculum accordingly
• Develop and coordinate lab preparation required for the courses
• Develop articulation agreements with four-year institutions as appropriate
• Develop internship agreements with area businesses as required
• Prepare materials to inform College community about program objectives, requirements, and employment/transfer opportunities
• Maintain accurate inventory of program equipment
• Assist in project evaluation

Assignment may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and off-campus classes. Instructor will assist and advise students; participate in division activities including regular faculty meetings; and represent discipline on appropriate college teams, including AQIP, Faculty Senate, and other internal committees.

Qualifications: Master’s degree with 18 hours in related discipline preferred. Evidence of thorough and accurate knowledge of discipline required. Community college teaching and curriculum development experience preferred. Experience in historic preservation highly desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Program management experience/expertise highly desired. Must hold or have credentials to qualify for Colorado Vocational Certification.

Compensation: $37,500 - $42,000 plus benefits that accrue to full-time faculty positions within the Colorado Community College System. This is a grant-funded position. It is the intention of the college to continue the program past the grant, based on sustained enrollment.

Director of Financial Aid: The Director of Financial Aid is responsible for the overall operation, reporting, development of financial aid programs at LCC. The position reports directly to the Dean of Student Services. Full-time, twelve-month contract.

Responsibilities: Work effectively and efficiently in the many facets of the position, to:
1. Process student FAFSAs, including verification and packaging.
2. Administer federal, state and institutional grant and scholarship funds.
3. Supervise the Federal and Colorado Work Study Programs as well as the FFELP student loan program.
4. Administer LCC’s Veterans Affairs Program.
5. Prepare required reports to federal and state agencies, private entities and appropriate college personnel.
6. Provide exceptional service, communicating appropriately with internal and external constituencies including faculty, staff, and high school counselors.
7. Follow present financial aid regulations as well as state and federal laws, policies and procedures to ensure that the College stays in compliance. Monitor changes in regulations and attend professional development opportunities, i.e., state system meetings and conferences to maintain currency.
8. Maintain accurate records and documentation for auditing by federal and state agencies.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent level of experience required. Successful financial aid and Banner student system experience preferred. Must be able to manage a substantial quantity of student needs and data in a timely manner and work collaboratively with other campus constituencies. Attention to detail, customer service, and responsiveness important. Must have strong verbal and written communication, customer service, and management skills, as well as strong knowledge of technology, including Microsoft Office products. Must be willing to assist other Student Services functions as needed. Appreciation of diverse student populations necessary. Bilingual (Spanish) desirable.

Mathematics Instructor: Full-time Mathematics position (166 day contract).

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Vice President and Dean of Academic Services, the individual in this position teaches math courses that can include pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, finite math, statistics, and calculus. The position will also work with other Title III personnel to develop program plans and course curriculum, as well as pilot, evaluate, and revise program courses for Title III STEM coursework. Responsibilities also include participation in general faculty functions such as student advising and in-services activities, course, program, and institutional assessment, selection and mentoring of adjunct faculty, remediation, and tutor training. Other position responsibilities include remaining current in the subject area; using effective teaching/learning strategies; working cooperatively with other department members and instructional administrators.

Assignment may include weekend and/or evening classes, as well as distance delivery. It requires providing instructional and department leadership, planning, coordination, and instruction of all components of Math course offerings at Lamar Community College. Instructor is to maintain regular office hours; assist and advise students; participate in division activities including regular faculty meetings of the department and the division; serve on appropriate college committees, including Faculty Senate Committees, campus AQIP committees, and participate in professional and community activities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: A Master’s degree in math or related field is strongly preferred. If a master’s degree has not been earned, the successful applicant must agree to complete an appropriate Masters degree within a specified time frame to be determined prior to awarding the faculty contract. The successful applicant must also have sufficient preparation to teach college-level courses in math. In addition, the qualified applicant will demonstrate a desire and ability to work with students of all ability levels, a commitment to diversity, and a commitment to the continuous improvement of instructional skills. At least one year of college-level teaching experience (part-time or full-time) and experience with a variety of methods for assessing student learning are desired.

Responsibilities: Responsible for operations and management of LCC’s NJCAA Division I Women’s Basketball program (Region IX), including recruiting, planning, organizing, travel, budgeting, and promoting LCC Athletics.

Qualifications: Baccalaureate degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred. The candidate should have experience coaching at the collegiate level as well as support the mission and purpose of LCC athletics. The candidate must be student-centered with a desire to assist in developing young women as athletes, students, and people of good character.

Compensation: $27,000 - $30,000 plus other benefits that accrue to full-time administrative positions within the Colorado Community College System.

Nursing Instructor: Full-time/166 day faculty contract (9 month position)

Responsibilities: The position is responsible for delivery of instruction to students in LCC’s Associate Degree Nursing Program; it includes clinical supervision, student advisement, and participation in department, divisional, and college-wide activities, curriculum and professional development. Teaching assignments may include alternative delivery settings, i.e., synchronous, self-paced, tutorial, evening and weekend offerings. The faculty member functions as a team member in both the Nursing program area/department and the instructional division and serves on appropriate college teams; including AQIP, Faculty Senate, and other internal committees; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and recent experience in clinical nursing practice required. Must hold a current Colorado RN license or a license from a compact state. Must have or be able to qualify for a Colorado Vocational Certification. Master’s Degree in Nursing is preferred as is curriculum/program development and/or teaching experience in post-secondary professional nursing program. If a Master’s has not been completed the successful applicant must agree to earn a Master’s degree in Nursing within a specified time frame to be determined prior to awarding the faculty contract.

Compensation: Competitive salary (commensurate with level of education, skills and experience) plus benefits that accrue to full-time faculty positions within the Colorado Community College System, including health, life, and dental insurance, LTD, and benefit package from Colorado PERA in accordance with SBCCOE policy. Example: $45,000 plus PERA/benefits = approximately $56,250 or $42.36/hour.

Lamar Community College is completing its selections for fall 2009 adjunct faculty members to bring additional perspectives to a diverse and experienced faculty. Masters in a related field and previous teaching experience is desirable for employment as an adjunct instructor.

Most courses are delivered on the Lamar campus, although LCC Online (distance delivery) instructors are needed as well.

Lamar Community College Communications is entertaining proposals from established web designers to create a new look for the Lamar Community College Web site (www.lamarcc.edu) as well as other special projects related to web maintenance, including creating/maintaining new program pages. 

Interested parties must submit proposals with initial design ideas and pricing as well as references and current examples of their work created in Dreamweaver.

The design change should not require a reorganization of the Web site. Designs should meet required standards of the American Disability Act (ADA).
