How do I locate materials in the library and electronically
and in print?
Our library has a collection of print materials in all subject areas.
Our library offers ACLIN, EbscoHost, SIRS, Electric Library and the
Internet. Two stand up OPAC stations are available to locate public
library sources. Users are welcome to take advantage of all resources.
How do I check out materials?
A user is welcome to borrow materials with a library card from the college
or the public library. To apply for a card, a driver’s license,
a picture id or a student id card must be presented at the Information
Desk. A staff member will place a bar code on the back of the library
card. When materials are loaned, the due date is stamped in the front
cover of the borrowed materials or on an easily identified area.
The library maintains collections for academic and general reading.
Our library classifies materials with the Dewey Decimal Classification
for book materials. Users are welcome to borrow all materials that are
not in the Reference or Reserve Collections. A student id card with
label may be used in all Colorado State institutions of higher education.
How long may I keep materials?
A blue slip of paper, outlining our policies, and a date due card are
placed inside the front cover of borrowed materials or a date due tag
is placed on the front cover of materials. Our policies are as follows:
Borrowing:
10 Books – 2 week loan, 5 day grace period.
3 Videotapes - 3 day loan, no grace period.
5 Magazines - 1 week, 3 day grace period.
Where do I return materials?
Materials may be returned to the indoor Book Drop located next to the
Information Desk or at a Book Drop located outside on Circle Drive near
the Administration Building.
May I extend my borrowing time?
Yes. Materials may be renewed one time by telephone or in person.
What happens if I keep materials past the date due?
Overdues: 1st Notice mailed 4th week-no fine 2nd Notice mailed 5th week-fines sent to Business Office,
replacement cost plus non-refundable $15 fine each item. Replacement cost plus non-refundable $15 fine for each item
- card blocked.
How do I borrow materials from other libraries?
Materials are borrowed from other libraries via Interlibrary Loans (ILLS)
using an “online address” and fill in boxes. A book or periodical
form is filled in and turned into the Information Desk or received by
email. Click Interlibrary Loan to send an online request. Or a form
is filled in and turned into the Information Desk. Requests are sent
electronically via SWIFT the day they are received. A courier service
delivers Interlibrary Loan (ILLs) once a week. There is no limit as
to the number of ILLs requested by an individual user. Borrowing limits
apply due to copyrights. A minimum of two weeks is required for delivery.
May I send a fax from the library?
Our library provides fax service for anyone who needs this service.
There is an in state, out of state or out of country charge for all
outgoing faxes. Charges are paid at the time of service. There is no
charge for received messages.
Is a photocopier available for student and public use?
Service is available to everyone who enters the library. Users are requested
to pay $.10 per page. Double sided copies are $.20 each. This machine
automatically collates and staples copied materials. The staff welcomes
the opportunity to assist you. The library complies with the Copyright
Law; a notice is posted on the photocopy machine.
May I borrow equipment such as a boom box, earphones, cassette
players to use in the library?
We welcome your requests to use equipment in the library Faculty members
may borrow equipment for classroom use. Requests are noted on the Schedule
Calendar.
Are computers available for users?
There are 6 computer stations and two OPAC computer stand up stations
for your convenience. We request that the user obtain a computer pass
at the Information Desk. Users may research for half an hour. If there
is a request for a computer workstation, the user will be asked to give
up the computer workstation for half an hour.
Does the library display current newspapers?
The library has a selection of current newspapers and retains them for
one month plus three months back issues.
How do I locate New Acquisitions?
Recently acquired materials are displayed on a low standing bookshelf
just inside the door to the library. New acquisitions are held display
for one week, after which they may be check out.
Is Bibliographic Instruction offered to classes as
well as individuals? Our staff welcomes requests from those who wish
instruction for their classes or individuals.
Are additional sources available?
All users are welcome to take advantage of the Vertical File holdings:
articles, leaflets, booklets and maps. These materials must be used
in the library or may be copied when necessary.
Another source of interesting information is the George H. Reaves Reading
Area. This carrel holds an entire collection of booklets related to
education.
