Lamar Community College Learning Resource Center/Library welcomes students and community users. Lamar Public Library at 102 East Parmenter Street offers its services and resources to LCC students. A library card issued by either library will be accepted at the other.
The LRC is home to the Walter-Hobbs Collection. This 800 volume collection was donated to the library by Dr. Howard W. Hobbs during the many years that he was an LCC faculty member. The collection features science, military history, and other miscellaneous titles. These books are shelved in the bistro area and in the STEM conference room. They are identified in the catalog by the addition of [HOBBS] to the call numbers and by colored dots on the spines of the books.
Other special collections include the Professional Collection for faculty members and the Quality Collection which supports total quality management. The Pierre Auger materials previously housed in the library are now located in Bowman 148.
Special features of the Lamar Community College Learning Resource Center/Library include the STEM room conference area with digital presentation equipment. The bistro area has a coffee shop atmosphere. Patrons are welcome to sip and read at the bistro tables. Couches provide comfortable seating in the alcove with its scenic view of Willow Creek and the surrounding area. Easy chairs and additional couches furnish the main reading area. Computers provide internet accessibility and are print-capable. The LRC is also a campus wireless internet site.
