Lamar Community College's 73rd annual Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:00 a in LCC's Wellness Center. Please check back for additional details regarding 2012 graduation and commencement.
To make graduation activities a true celebration for all students and their families, we ask you please note the following:
Graduation Details
Several items should be accomplished in the weeks and months before commencement.
Intent to graduate: Individuals who believe they are eligible to walk in Commencement for fall 2011 or spring/summer 2012 completion, must have an approved Intent to Graduate on file. Please see the 2011-2012 Academic Calendar for deadlines. For questions, contact the Student Services Center at 719-336-1590.
Caps & gowns: All students who submit an approved Intent to Graduate form for fall, spring or summer will be assessed a graduation fee in the appropriate semester. This includes a charge for your cap and gown, so there is no additional charge to reserve yours. Additional ordering details will follow early in the spring of 2012.
Your cap and gown will be available the third week of April in the Student Services Center (Betz Technology Center). Once you have received them, they will be yours to keep.
Announcements: Students may also order graduation announcements. Additional ordering details will follow early in the spring of 2012. Graduation announcements are not included in the Graduation Fee and are an optional expense.

Commencement Rehearsal: Report to the Wellness Center (upper level) on Friday, April 27 at 9:30 a OR 1:30 p for rehearsal. (These times are yet to be confirmed. Please check back in early spring 2012 for confirmation.) If you cannot make one of these rehearsal times, please contact Student Services at 719-336-1590.
Commencement Day
Below are additional details related to the day of Commencement.
Commencement Line-up: Meet in the upper level of the Wellness Center on Saturday morning, April 28 at 9:15 a.m. for the final line-up prior to Commencement.
Parking: Primary parking will be available in the Wellness Center parking lot. Additional overflow parking will be available at the Residence Hall and other parking lots.
Seating: Any designated seating area in the Wellness Center except for reserved seats. The Wellness Center will be open at 9:00 a.m., if you wish to come early to reserve seats.
Photos: Family members may take photos from their seats.
Webcast: Friends and family members who cannot be at the event may view a live video of Commencement beginning at 9:55 a.m. MST.
Finalizing Graduation
Participation in commencement exercises does not necessarily mean you have graduated. Degree/certificate completion will be confirmed once all spring semester grades are received and a final degree audit is completed. A student may complete up to 12 credits in summer to graduate; your degree audit will be completed after summer session grades are submitted.
Transcripts: Transcripts that include a “graduation stamp” will be available once all grades are processed, all financial obligations are met, and a final degree audit is completed. This process takes approximately four – six weeks.
Diploma: Your diploma will be ordered and shipped to you after Commencement, depending on above process timing. Please make sure a current mailing address is on file with the Student Service Center and your student account for prompt delivery of your diploma. All financial obligations to LCC must be cleared before the diploma is mailed.
