Transfer of credits to
Lamar
Transfer students who request credit for previous work
at other institutions must submit an application for admission and
an official transcript of all previous college work. LCC must receive
the transcripts of college credits directly from the institutions
previously attended.
Students on academic probation or academic suspension from another college may
be admitted on a probationary status. After completion of one term of satisfactory
academic progress at Lamar Community College, a student will no longer be on
probation.
Students on disciplinary suspension from another college may be admitted on an
individual basis after an appropriate conference with the administration of Lamar
Community College.
Transfer from Lamar to a four-year university
If students observe the following information when preparing for transfer,
they will be better prepared to meet requirements of four-year colleges and universities.
In all cases, it is the institution to which a student transfers that
will determine which courses do or do not transfer.
Even though credits that carry a "D" grade count toward
graduation at Lamar Community College, they usually do not transfer.
Lamar Community College transfers credits only if the grade is "C"
or higher. The transfer of "D" credits is dependent upon
the policy of each institution.
Most institutions will transfer only courses for which they have equivalent
offerings. However, sometimes articulation agreements, in which courses
are agreed to transfer as elective credit, exist between four-year institutions
and LCC. Articulated courses will transfer even when an equivalent course
does not exist. Core courses transfer to all Colorado, state four-year
institution except Colorado School of Mines. Non-core courses generally
transfer to the four-year institutions, but students should check with
their advisors or with the institution to which they intend to transfer
to ensure that particular non-core courses will transfer.
A change of program objectives may extend the time required to complete
a degree.
Credits that are transferred are generally evaluated in the
following order:
a. Core Curriculum
b. Institutional requirements that include program requirements
c. Electives
Credits from nonaccredited institutions
Lamar Community College will not accept courses taken
at institutions that a Regional Accrediting Association does not
accredit.
Credits from accredited institutions
Regular academic courses completed are generally accepted
in transfer to LCC. Courses that are not equivalent in content
to any course at LCC can be accepted as elective credit. In either
case, only courses indicating a grade of C or higher will transfer.
The College will accept courses for transfer completed at an accredited college
or university or other approved institution within fifteen years before admission
to Lamar Community College.
