Let’s celebrate!
Please join us for our a Grand Reopening this fall to celebrate the recent renovation of our Large and Small Lecture Halls!
September 28, 2017, from 5:30-8:00pm in the LCC Bowman Building
Refreshments provided – event is free and open to the public
The Grand Reopening will begin with refreshments at 5:30pm, during which time local history will be on display in the Bowman hallways and both lecture halls will be open to the public. The evening’s program will start at 6:00pm in the Large Lecture Hall beginning with a brief address regarding the lecture hall renovation followed by entertainment featuring 19th century vaquero stories from guest speaker Angel Vigil.
This event is being held in conjunction with the Frontier History Encampment to be held on September 29-30 on the Lamar Community College campus. While the Encampment focuses solely on the 19th century, the Grand Reopening has given us the opportunity to expand on that time frame and bring in more recent history of Lamar and southeastern Colorado. This history will be on display including photos and descriptions of the area from the Big Timbers Museum here in Lamar.
Vigil is a historic interpreter, noted Chatauquan, and long-time participant in the Frontier History Encampment. He will remain in Lamar for the Encampment, where he will share his extensive knowledge of 19th century vaqueros with camp visitors.
